Elementary III – the adolescent programme and preparation for secondary school

Grades seven to nine: project-based learning, responsibility for one's own learning, languages and plenty of real-world work.

Why the Montessori method at lower secondary too

Adolescents need real tasks, not just subject matter

The aim of our primary education is to develop in children academic eagerness, a creative mind, strong character, a spirit of service to others and a sense of belonging with other people in the world. At lower secondary the most important thing of all is added: responsibility for their own learning.

Pupils work on projects, present them to others, and learn to plan their time and cooperate. Verbal (descriptive) assessment without marks, rewards or punishments stays – a mistake is still a friend.

Teaching takes place in a Czech-English environment. Alongside Czech and English we also offer Spanish, German and Japanese as clubs.

What the day looks like

The same rhythm as at primary, with more independence

A three-hour morning block from 8:00 to 11:00, lunch, time outdoors and an afternoon block from 13:00 to 14:30 including community time. Pupils plan their work a week ahead and keep records of it.

The after-school club runs until 16:30. We try seasonal sports – a ski course in February, swimming, ice skating and cycling in summer.
