During the week of 14th–18th September 2026, the 10th anniversary year of the ‘Walk to School’ challenge took place – and AMA SCHOOL didn’t want to miss out! 💚
Children from our kindergarten and the oldest pupils from the Elementary School took part in the challenge and set off for school on foot together. 👟
And it’s not just an ordinary walk around town for us. 😊 Our school is located on Široký vrch, so the uphill journey can be quite a challenge at times. But that makes it all the more beautiful – it leads through nature, among the trees, and offers a completely different start to the school day. 🌳🍂
The other children from the Elementary School were on an acclimatisation stay in Czech Switzerland this week, where they certainly didn’t miss out on walking. 😊 They went for walks in nature every day and discovered the beauty of the surrounding landscape. 🥾🌲
The ‘Walk to School’ challenge reminds us that the journey to school doesn’t have to be just a transfer from point A to point B. It’s an opportunity to exercise, chat, meet up, be aware of your surroundings and experience something together. Walking wakes us up in the morning, gets us going and is good for both body and mind. 💚
This year’s anniversary year also broke records – 602 schools from all over the Czech Republic and tens of thousands of children took part! 👏
The challenge is over now, but we can keep walking. 👣 We will be very happy if walking to and from school becomes a regular part of future school days. Every step counts! 🌿
