About me
Hi everyone! Hola a todos!
My name is Jana in Czech, but you can call me Jane or Juana – I respond to all three.
I have been teaching languages for 25 years and am the founder and CEO of the language school Teaching.CZ. What began as a hobby gradually became my full-time profession. At a time when there were very few language courses available in my hometown, I was one of the first to start offering them. Over the years, the school has grown considerably, and today I lead a team of 13 teachers who teach English, Spanish and German in more than 100 courses every week.
My journey with languages began with English. While I was still studying at grammar school, one of my teachers encouraged me to tutor younger students privately. That was when I realised how much I loved sharing knowledge and helping others understand a language. After graduation, I continued studying English, completed an intensive Cambridge course and passed the state language examinations. Soon afterwards, I started my own language school, and within two years my teaching schedule was completely full.
Later, I discovered Spanish and quickly fell in love with it too. I began studying with native speakers, and what started as curiosity soon became another great passion and eventually another language I wanted to teach.
Four years ago, I joined AMA School. At the time, I did not quite know what to expect, but I felt that I needed a new professional challenge alongside my work in my own language school. I started by teaching English to the oldest students at AMA School and very quickly fell in love with the school, its atmosphere, the place Široký vrch and the way children learn here.
I enjoy challenges, and this is exactly how I see my work in the bilingual environment of AMA School. It has given me many new experiences, ideas and inspirations, and it continues to challenge me professionally in the best possible way. I am particularly proud of my students and of the progress they make over the years.
A significant part of my work at AMA School is the professional preparation of students for Cambridge English examinations. In Year 9, I prepare students for B1 and B2 level exams, with a strong focus on confidence, language accuracy, exam strategy and real communication skills. Our students have consistently been successful in their Cambridge examinations, and seeing them reach this important milestone is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
Alongside English, I also teach Spanish and enjoy bringing both languages into the multilingual and internationally minded environment of AMA School.
I have always believed that learning should remain dynamic and full of energy. Because I love music and movement, I also became a qualified fitness instructor. Over the years, I have taught aerobics and Zumba, and today I teach fitness dance. I have also continued my personal and professional development through studies in Bach flower therapy, homeopathy and professional coaching within an MBA programme with IES London.
Beyond my professional roles, I am a daughter, sister, wife and mother. I come from a large family – I have a twin sister and two older sisters – and family has always been the most important part of my life. I am married and have two daughters, Diana and Klaudie.
I cannot imagine my life without my family, friends, good food, sport, music, travelling and nature. I love learning, teaching, meeting people and taking on new challenges and AMA School has become an important and inspiring part of that journey.
