About me
My name is Nika. English has always been one of my great passions and has shaped a large part of both my personal and professional journey. After completing my studies, I spent many years living abroad. I first lived in Vancouver, Canada, where I further developed my English and gained valuable life experience. Later, I moved to Perth in Western Australia, where I continued my English studies and successfully graduated.
Travelling has played an equally important role in my life. I have visited more than 40 countries across the world, including many parts of Asia, North America and beyond. Experiencing different cultures first-hand, meeting people from diverse backgrounds and learning to see the world from different perspectives has greatly influenced the way I work with children today. I try to encourage them to be curious, open-minded and courageous, and to believe that there are many different ways to live, learn and understand the world. One of the messages I hope to pass on to them through my own story is that almost anything is possible if we are willing to explore, learn and take opportunities when they come.
I have been part of AMA School for the past 9 years and currently work as an English-speaking guide in the third three-year cycle. I am also involved in developing the English-language part of our curriculum and lead selected seminars in subjects such as Geography and Biology. I particularly enjoy connecting English with other areas of learning, so that children experience the language not simply as a school subject, but as a natural tool for discovering new ideas, asking questions and understanding the world around them.
I love finding original and engaging ways to present information and creating learning experiences in which English, Montessori principles and real knowledge naturally come together. Seeing children become increasingly confident in using English, often without even realising how much they are learning, is one of the most rewarding parts of my work. Their enthusiasm for our English lessons means a great deal to me.
Alongside my classroom work, I contribute to the development of Montessori based English methodology at AMA School and also work as a PlayWisely instructor. I enjoy searching for new ways to support children at different stages of their development and bringing together language learning, movement, experience and Montessori principles.
AMA School has become an important part of my professional journey, and I am happy to contribute not only as an English-speaking guide, but also through curriculum development and interdisciplinary teaching. My international experience and cosmopolitan outlook allow me to bring a little bit of the wider world into the classroom every day and, at the same time, to encourage children to discover that world for themselves.
Outside school, I am interested in spirituality and crystals, and I enjoy hiking, yoga and reading books focused on personal development. I love continuing to discover new places, ideas and perspectives. One of my personal mottos is simple: “Never say never.”
