Léňa Žáková

About me.

My name is Lenka Žáková and I was born in Chomutov. Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a teacher. This passion naturally led me to study at a Secondary School of Education. After graduating, I explored several different career paths, but my heart eventually led me back to education and working with children.

After parental leave, I joined a state kindergarten, where I spent six years gaining valuable teaching experience. Over time, however, I began looking for new ways to be even closer to children and to better support their natural curiosity, independence and joy of learning.

I am the mother of two wonderful children, Anička and Radeček, who remind me every day how important it is to respect each child’s individuality, needs and unique pace of development. It was through them that I first discovered Montessori education – an approach that immediately resonated deeply with me. What I value most about the Montessori philosophy is that it goes far beyond academic learning. It prepares children for life, nurturing their independence, responsibility, confidence and freedom within respectful boundaries.

Over the years at AMA School, my organisational, technical and digital skills have naturally become an important part of my role. This gradually led me to become the Head of Kindergarten at AMA School. Alongside my work with children, I support new colleagues as they become familiar with the administrative and legislative responsibilities of their roles. I also develop practical tools that connect our everyday work in the classroom with meaningful observation and visible evidence of each child’s individual development and progress. In addition, I am responsible for the development and ongoing implementation of our kindergarten’s School Educational Programme (ŠVP), ensuring that it reflects both legislative requirements and the educational principles and values of AMA School.

Music has always been an important part of my life. I have played the piano and guitar since childhood. For me, music is not only a passion but also a beautiful way of expressing emotions, creativity and joy – qualities I love bringing into my work with children. I believe that music can play a powerful role in children’s development, supporting their creativity, sensitivity and emotional awareness.

Alongside music, I also have a passion for motorbikes. Riding gives me a wonderful sense of freedom, relaxation and energy. In my free time, I most enjoy being with my family and friends – going on trips, taking walks and, of course, heading out on my motorbike. These moments give me balance, energy and new inspiration, which I bring back with me into my work with children.
