About me
My name is Johanka Šůmová. I like to say that I cook not only food, but also a good mood. I work in the school kitchen at AMA School, where every day I help prepare meals for our children and staff.
I enjoy cooking, baking and taking care of the kitchen environment. I like things to be clean, organised and in their proper place, and I appreciate fresh, high-quality ingredients. And, of course, I also enjoy my morning coffee before the busy part of the day begins.
Every day, I work side by side with Martin, our Head Chef. We have become a well-coordinated team and together prepare dozens of meals for the children at AMA School every day. I really enjoy our daily teamwork and the fact that we can rely on each other. I also like it when we try something new in the kitchen a new recipe, a different way of preparing an ingredient or a new combination of flavours.
At the same time, my role is gradually expanding beyond cooking itself. I am learning to understand the legislation and administrative requirements connected with school catering. Our catering manager, Evička, shares her experience with me and helps me learn how to work with the VIS system, which we use for recipes and food standards, menu planning, nutritional monitoring and other important aspects of school catering. It is a new area for me, but I enjoy learning and gaining new practical skills.
I live in Hamr with my husband and our two children, who are my greatest joy and motivation. In my free time, I enjoy spending time in the garden and travelling. I love discovering new places, nature and different cultures.
I am sociable, open and talkative, and I enjoy laughter and positive people around me. I feel close not only to children but also to animals, which are a great source of joy and calm for me.
I try to bring heart, energy and a positive attitude into my work every day. I believe that good food can bring people together and create a warm and pleasant atmosphere and that is exactly what I hope to contribute to at AMA School.
